I‘ve been drawing all my life and was first introduced to clay at the ripe young age of 4.  I love to work with shading and color contrast as well as texturing and patterns. The beauty of nature and the human face/figure have always captured my interest. My mediums and creations vary depending on my mood - some are realistic and some are stylized. I communicate my ideas, feelings and thoughts visually with my art.

In 2006, I opened my ceramic studio,”Playin’ In the Mud” at my home in Washington Grove and returned to my art full time. I work with different clay bodies and use the 3 basic methods - slab, coil and pinch interchangeably to create my pieces. I also illustrate with underglaze paintings and imprint my pieces with numerous textured surfaces. My creations include sculpted human forms, illustrated tiles, illustrated platters and miniature creatures.

I do portraiture, figure studies and illustrative work with oil, acrylics and mixed media in my 2D studio. I enjoy doing caricatures as a type of expression. Some of my work is commissioned and I design program covers, signs and recently illustrated 2 childrens books entitled “The Pumpkin Man” and “The Uncle Tales” by Lin Butler.

I attended RISD and received a BA in Fine Arts from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). I’ve been teaching art workshops and ceramic hand-building as an independent contractor for the past 30 years. I've worked with children, adults, autistic youth and senior centers. Everyone has an artist in them and a way to express themselves if given the opportunity!

I am a member of the Gaithersburg Artists Collective (GAC) and the Art League of Germantown (ALOG). I show/sell my work at The Arts Barn, ALOG, Something Earthy gallery, AOM gallery and private commissions.
